Dentures may be partial or complete dentures depending on the number of teeth missing.
Where all of the teeth missing, this is called full denture. Where there are some teeth missing, is called a partial denture.
Dentures are removable. They help replace missing teeth, provide soft tissue (such as lips and cheeks) support and aid better chewing and talking function.
Dentures are often classified according to the materials that they are made of, for example, “plastic” dentures are made of acrylic and “metal” dentures consist of a cobalt chromium metal component. Some also have gold clasps attached.
